Multi-rename tool в Total Commander совершенно не поддерживает
Unicode. Как и подавляющее большинство транслитераторов, которые
обещают решить проблему но на нерусских Windows не видят файлов с
русскими именами (cannot find file ??????.mp3).
Поэтому лучше воспользоваться сторонним инструментом, который понимает
Unicode а также позволяет делать преобразования неверной кодовой
страницы - например файлы извлеченные из ZIP-архива на системе у которой
кодовая страница отличается от той на которой архив был упакован.
Программа пробегала на kpnemo, но в Readme нет упоминания домашней
страницы программы, посему залил ее на рапиду:

Alas, there still are people using national language characters (most
notably Cyrillics) in their file names. Then they WinRar them, send
them to you, you unrar them, and... Right! You have a different
codepage, and the files are invisible to most applications. Cannot
find file "????????????????.mp3", doesn't it sound familiar? You won't
believe this, but even such monsters as Acrobat Reader or M$ HTML Help
have problems with unicode file names! (I guess that's yet another way
by Microsoft to make third party software incompatible. Otherwise,
that should have provided an utility for this.) So, you sit down and
manually rename all those hundreds of tracks that you've downloaded...
Well, not anymore! Just use translit. Everything is easy and
straightforward. Basically, there are two modes: using a custom
transliteration table, or converting a codepage (AKA "krakozjabry"),
which is basically using transliteration tables known to Windows. (In
the latter case, the result isn't human readable, but other
applications, like tagging software, may make better use of these
names.) Select your mode, select files, and hit "RENAME". (Certainly,
you're doing this at your own risk.) You can undo last rename.
Besides, there is an option to create a log.

converting codepages and validating file names, as well as the editor
called for the tables. The latter'd better support unicode.)

Other usages:
-- Translit supports old Norton style navigation (switching to a
folder by double clicking on it) and drag/drop, so I'm also using it
as a primitive file system browser to the places not shown by the
explorer (e.g., to get a subfolder of a deleted folder from the
trashcan, or to get a file from IE cash after I've accidentaly hit
"Cancel" after a two hours download). Speaking about navigation, in a
long list, you can quick find a file by a few first characters if you
just start typing them.
-- Command line is also supported, so you can put a shortcut to your
"Send to" folder or create an appropriate entry for the folder context
menu in the registry. (In the default settings, you can do that by
pressing Alt+R.)
-- Finally, you can copy files/names to the clipboard (something that
most shell extensions intended for the purpose fail, too). You can
instruct translit to use short file names in the copy/drag operations;
this may help you open the files in an application not supporting
unicode file names.

As said above, everything is straightforward. But if you really must
have "Russian interface", have a friend edit "translit.lng_" and
rename it to "translit.lng". (It'd better be a unicode file. Use
notepad. The supplied file is indeed Russian.)

Custom transliteration tables are the files "translit.MyTableName.txt"
in the translit directory, see "translit.Russian.txt" for an example.
(They should also be in unicode or else they'll be meaningless as they
would convert characters that are already supported by your default
codepage. Accidentally, for the characters to be converted you can use
Pascal convention like #255 or #$FF.)
The program does not change anything in your system except the file
"translit.xml" and what you've explicitly asked it to change :)

warranty or support. Report bugs to wherever you've downloaded it from
